Leadville 100 Mile Endurance Run

The Leadville 100 is a classic trail ultramarathon in a classic town.   Founder, Ken Clouber, really knows how to throw a party… check out the Bling.

Starting as a way to help unemployed miners in the early 80s, the race has grown in participants and stature.  Excellent chronicles can be found in the best selling book, Born to Run, which describes the classic battle between ultra legend Ann Trason and a group of Tarahumara Indians from the Copper Canyon in Mexico.

Here is a short movie of the 2009 race.

The popularity of the race has also spawned a Mountain Bike race that has attracted top talent including Lance Armstrong and Rebecca Rusch, along with several shorter distance options.
